Today, March 23, 2016, is the 18th Anniversary of our Business, Sandpiper Pest Control!
Laurie, our children, Zach and Lesley, and I moved to this area from Lantana where I had worked for a large Pest Control company. Instead of looking for another job here in Sebastian, we decided it was time for me to own a business of my own.
Eighteen years ago today Laurie and I started Sandpiper Pest Control business out of our home. It was just us and our truck. Our son Zach works with us now. Today we have a number of vehicles and employees serving Indian River and Brevard Counties.
About six months after we started Sandpiper Pest Control, Jerry Mekler of the Sun newspaper in Sebastian wrote a great story about our family and our business. We were tickled to find it, and thought you might enjoy it as well.
The Article itself is well worn and hard to read, but for sentimental reasons I will show it here anyway. It chronicles the beginning of our business. Laurie on the phones, and Joel out in the field taking care of those pests with more than two legs. There is a great quote in the article where the interviewer asked Joel if he thought his children would follow him into the business. His answer:”At this stage of Zach’s Life, I would say that he is very interested, after all , he did give our company it’s name. Lesley is not much interested at this point.”
Just as was predicted, Zach works with us at Sandpiper, and Lesley is off doing her own career path. It’s funny how life turns out sometimes.
Next time you see one of us in our Sandpiper Trucks, say Happy Anniversary!!
